BUM-TECH - When technology really gets dangerously vindictive

Many of us are familiar with the acronym PEBCAK, which stands for Problem Exists Between Chair and Keyboard. It's a cruel label people like to use on others who get themselves in trouble by doing something dumb while seated at their computer, which causes a serious problem for them.

In this ski lift incident at Vail, Colorado, you really can't say this is a human failure. At best, maybe you could say the victim should have tightened his belt a bit tighter.

So, we need a new acronym - BUM-TECH - for Broken Usage Mechanism - Technology Entangled Chair and Human

Let's just use this acronym when we have no other explanation for technology screw-ups that happen in a freakishly random and yet unnecessarily cruel way, just when you think you should be safe by simply sitting there. We're just glad it didn't happen to us...
