Here's a fun tool for you to use before presentations and meetings

Saturday, February 7th 2009 @ 12:00 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 879 times

When was the last time you sat for 5 minutes, staring at a presentation's title slide on the screen at the front of the room, waiting for the rest of the attendees to show up?  It happened to you this morning, you say?  I'm not surprised.

When you think of how much time is wasted sitting around waiting for meetings to start, you start to realize that the people who run movie theatres have latched on to something rather creative.

Perhaps they could have been a bit more constructive.  After all, it's their choice to use trashy movie trivia in their pre-show quizzes. But could they not include tidbits that are a bit more practical, and educational, yet still be fun and interesting?

Well, even if they don't choose to educate idle audiences about information security risks, now you can!

So, I'd like to introduce you to the "Streetwise Security Edutainment Quiz" slide deck. OK, maybe this isn't quite as much fun as guessing which movie Tom Cruise wasn't in, but I think it could come pretty close.

I am offering this tool, with no strings attached (under Creative Commons Attribution Licensing). You don't even need to provide an email address or register for my site. You can change the content as you wish. All I ask is that you maintain attribution to me and to the sources I quote.

The MS Powerpoint slide deck is about 2MB to download, and runs for about 5 minutes, repeating in an endless loop.

Give it a try, keep it handy in your "Presentations" folder, on the board room laptop, or your USB Flash Drive for emergencies.

Most of all, I'd like to know what you think of this idea as an innovative way to educate people about risks in the enterprise and at home.

You can download it directly by clicking HERE, and please send me a note with your comments.

I am now offering monthly briefings, tailored to organizations that want to build and sustain security awareness for staff. Just because your security team is too busy to do its own training and awareness doesn't mean you can't have an economical way to address human security risks.
