Privacy Commissioners state their position on Street Level Photography such as Google Street View

If there is a way for private citizens' privacy rights and Google Street View to co-exist, it may be somewhere in the realm envisioned by a number of Canadian Privacy Commissioners who have authored a fact sheet called "Captured on Camera - Street-level imaging technology, the Internet and you." (click HERE).
The bottom line is that several of Canada's provincial privacy commissioners, as well as the Federal Privacy Commissioner seem intent on fighting for the rights of private citizens when it comes to collection, storage and distribution of photos containing individuals; even if the individuals were captured in the images inadvertently.
The position stated by the commissioners seems reasonable, from a Canadian citizen's point of view. It would simply require businesses taking the photos to post public notices of their planned locations and times for photographing, as well as providing a way for concerned individuals to have images that could identify them to request that their images be blurred or made unviewable in some way.
