The Streetwise Security Edge townhall sessions

Thursday, December 31st 2009 @ 11:32 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 898 times

With the rapid changes going on in every industry as a result of Web, social media and mobile technologies, it’s clearly hard for many of us to decide how to protect ourselves and our organizations from threats we don't even know exist. Sometimes it simply comes down to knowing what’s going on in the world, and hearing how others are dealing with these new situations. Without that connection, it’s hard to make good risk decisions about our information and systems.

Starting on Monday, January 4th, I’ll be launching a series of  public, weekly live video web-sessions in the Streetwise Townhall facility to discuss current issues in information security. The show is called the “Streetwise Security Edge,” and it will be run as a townhall format. I plan to bring in several guest hosts and will invite audience participation in the chat room. The ultimate duration, scheduling and frequency will be determined based on feedback from the first few weekly sessions. I am also supplementing these public sessions with coaching sessions on specific issues for Business (Premium) and C-Level Management (Exclusive) members of the Streetwise Security Zone.

My hope is that by using the social media tools that we have readily available, we can begin a movement of sustained security awareness, from executives to front-line individuals. This forum could be the foundation for generating and spreading new ideas on how to recognize and manage information security and privacy risks.

So, please join me by following the link to the next event on the home page of the Streetwise Security Zone.

I hope to see you there, and look forward to your comments and suggestions. Please spread the word!

Is your security awareness training just a set of old Powerpoint slides that you pull out once a year and present at an all-hands meeting? You can now provide much more effective security awareness training for your staff, for much less cost than you think. Contact me if you'd like to discuss how you can create a culture of security through a variety of live programs, and modern e-Learning techniques.
