Monthly Streetwise Coaching Session
January 21, 2010 - 8:30am EST

Social Engineering Risks and Tips
for Staff, Business Management and IT Manager

This is a reminder for you to join us in the first Monthly Streetwise Coaching Session on Thursday, Janaury 21 at 8:30am (EST), open to all Business level members of the Streetwise Security Zone. It will be held in the  online Streetwise Townhall facility.

Here's an overview of this month's session with details on how to join at the bottom of this message...

Tricking people into releasing information or allowing malware to infect their computer is one of the most insidious tactics used to commit crimes on the Internet. This is what’s called Social Engineering.

In this month’s 1-hour Streetwise Coaching Session, you will learn about some of the most common risks and tips that are applicable to all employees in an organization that use the Internet, or even the telephone.

Then we'll also review some of the important issues for Business Managers to understand, so you can keep staff properly resistant to being tricked by attackers interested in stealing identities, accessing confidential information or launching undetectable malware on your systems.

Finally, for the more technically inclined IT Managers and Staff, you'll learn about how I  use "Honey Sticks" to simulate social engineering attacks using USB drives to test staff awareness of these kinds of risks, and determine where security awareness training may be needed.

I hope you can make it to the live session, so you can ask questions and influence the discussion. If you aren't able to make it, I will post the recorded session in the Members Only area of the Streetwise Security Zone.

How to Join the Live Session

To join in the live Monthly Streetwise Coaching Sessions or view the recorded sessions, you must join as a Business Member (there's currently a 30 day free trial available).

NOTE: If you are already a Personal level (free) member, you can log in and click on the red "Upgrade Membership" link to gain access. If you aren't yet a member, just click on the "Join Now" menu item at the top of our home page and follow the instructions for the Business level full membership.

Once you've joined, just look for the "Member Resources" menu item at the top of the home page. Then pick the "Monthly Live Streetewise Coaching Session" link in the Business and C Level Members row of the resource table. If you are looking for the recorded session, look for the link to the "Coaching Session Archives "right below the link to the live session.

I look forward to seeing you there at 8:30am EST .

(I apologize that this note did not come out earlier. I'll try to get these reminder notices out a few days in advance next time.)
