ScottWright Group Administrator | Subject: Dangerous Facebook message requests plugin for video Risks in the News posted by ScottWright on Thursday, August 7th 2008 @ 8:04 AM
A new attack on Facebook users appears as what looks like a legitimate message from a Friend (with their picture in it, even), telling you that you've been caught on a hidden camera. It asks you to click on a link that looks like a YouTube link, but it requests that you authorize the downloading of a plugin (a mini-program).
The link is NOT to YouTube, and the plugin will infect your system with a Trojan Horse virus.

If you have been infected, you should make sure you have the latest antivirus software and up-to-date virus definitions, then run a Full System Scan on your computer. The site above says there is not a "quick fix" because, over time, this type of virus can cause different types of infections.
