| Subject: How many different accounts with passwords do you have? posted by ScottWright on Thursday, September 25th 2008 @ 11:32 PM
Passwords are becoming the bane of many computer users. It seems like you can't do anything on the Internet without a password these days. There are a lot of ways people deal with having to manage so many passwords. That's something we'll deal with shortly. But, for now, let's just see how many passwords we're talking about.
How many accounts, from the following list, do you currently have passwords for (even if you have your browser set to remember them automatically)?
1-Home Email (yes, all of them) 2-Banking, credit cards and financial (plus PayPal, etc.) 3-Social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) 4-Hosting service providers (.Mac, storage, photos, websites, blogs) 5-Work computer logins (Network, Email, other) 6-Online shopping (eBay, Amazon, Mail order shops, electronics) 7-Online content subscriptions (Music, News, Audiobooks, Movies, Newsletters) 8-TV programming 9-Phone, cell phone, pager and utilities 10-Electronic bill payment 11-Social Bookmarking (Digg, Delicious, Reddit, etc.) 12-Travel (Hotels, Airlines, Rental cars, etc.) 13-Product registrations (Symantec, Microsoft, Apple, etc.)
You can probably think of other types, as well. So, add up all the ones you can think of and select the corresponding range from the choices above. It will surprise you to see the total number. Feel free to enter a comment, too. Scott Wright
